Accion Democratica Nacionalista
Nationalist Democratic Action was founded in March 23, 1979 by former Bolivian President Hugo Banzer after the withdrawal of power. Then widens to include the Revolutionary Left Party (PIR) and a faction of a Bolivian Socialist Falange (FSB). When leading DNA Banzer ran in the presidential elections of 1979, 1980, 1985, 1989, 1993 and 1997, won third place in 1979 and 1980 and won a plurality in the 1985 vote, but since that did not reach the 50 required for the direct elections, Congress (in accordance with the Bolivian Consititution) chose the head of government. His election was the auctioneer for the second-place, Dr. V ctor Paz Estenssoro.
Banzer's party at this point I choose to support the MNR in a government coalition. Finally, in 1997 Banzer Suarez achieving his dream of becoming a constitutionally elected President of Bolivia, to 71 years. He was the first former dictator in Latin America in recent history to the successful transition to democratic politics and the return of shares by way of cash vote. During their occupation, launched under the guidelines outlined by the United States, a program to combat drug trafficking in Bolivia, who called for the eradication of coca, a polemic. He had also some problems with the unions, but did his best to govern in a conciliatory and non-arbitrary. In 2001 he was diagnosed with lung cancer, even though he won a five-year term (the shaking was legally extend the presidential term) Banzer resigned on August 7, 2001. He was succeeded by his vice president, Jorge Quiroga. Banzer's health declined rapidly afterwards, and died on May 5, 2002.
